Newmar King Aire Recall 17V229: Dash Display May Hide Speedometer and RPM Readings

NHTSA campaign 17V229, reported April 4, 2017, 26 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Water can enter the headlight harness connectors on certain 2017 King Aire motorhomes because the connector seals may not be properly seated. When water gets in, the glass dash display may switch to the turn signal camera view, which shows over the speedometer and RPM readings.

If the driver cannot see the speedometer and RPM displays, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should watch for the camera view replacing their gauges and take that seriously while driving.

Newmar will notify owners, and authorized dealers will inspect the connectors and reseat the seals as needed. The repair is free. Owners can contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300, and can check their VIN for any open recalls.
