Fccc S2G Recall 17V215: Brake may not release on slippery roads, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 17V215, reported March 29, 2017, 25 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2015-2016 FCCC S2G trucks with an 8.0L propane engine and an Allison transmission, the transmission grade brake may not deactivate when the disable switch is pressed. Because of aggressive downshifting, this can cause a loss of traction on icy or other slippery surfaces.

If the transmission grade brake stays engaged without the driver realizing it in low-traction conditions, the risk of a crash increases.

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle's programming at no cost. The recall began May 31, 2017. Owners can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall number FL-734), and you should check your VIN for any open recalls.
