Kia Cadenza Recall 17V190: Kinked brake vacuum hose can reduce braking power

NHTSA campaign 17V190, reported March 16, 2017, 47 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A brake vacuum hose in certain vehicles may kink, which can reduce braking performance. The vacuum hose helps provide the power assist that makes the brake pedal easier to press, so a kinked hose can weaken the braking effort the vehicle delivers.

Reduced braking performance can lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, which raises the risk of a crash. If you own an affected vehicle, check your VIN for open recalls and contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542, referencing recall SC146. Kia will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will inspect the brake vacuum hose and replace it if necessary, at no charge.
