Nissan Murano Recall 17V184: Power Steering Hose Can Detach and Leak, Creating Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 17V184, reported March 16, 2017, 56,766 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The power steering hose clamp on certain vehicles may not hold the hose securely. Over time the hose can come loose and leak power steering fluid.

If the leaking fluid lands on a hot engine or exhaust component, it can increase the risk of a fire. Owners should watch for signs of a leak, such as low power steering fluid or fluid puddles under the vehicle.

The repair is free. Nissan will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install a power steering high pressure hose kit at no charge. Owners can contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
