Forest River Puma Recall 17V169: Wrong tire size on door label can lead to unsafe tire choice

NHTSA campaign 17V169, reported March 14, 2017, 44 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The certification label (Federal Placard) on certain trailers lists the wrong tire and rim size. It gives ST205/75R15C tires and a 14x5 rim, but the correct specification is ST205/75R14C tires with a 14x5.5JJ rim, both at 50 psi. Because the label is wrong, an owner may install the wrong size of replacement tires, which increases the risk of a crash.

If you own a 2017 Puma trailer, model PT23FBC or PT25RSC, check the placard and make sure the tire and rim sizes match the correct specification above. Do not replace tires based on the incorrect label. Contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0588 (recall number 420-03072017-0338) to arrange a free corrected placard, which dealers will install at no cost.
