- Problem
- Ride The Ducks International LLC (RTDI) is recalling certain 1999-2002 Stretch Amphibious passenger vehicles. The headlights may have been mounted 56" above the ground instead of being mounted between 22" and 54" above the ground as is required to prevent the headlights from blinding oncoming traffic. - If the headlights are not installed within the required limits, it can cause a decrease in visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- RTDI will notify owners, and dealers will relocate the headlights to the proper height requirements, free of charge. The recall began on April 20, 2017. Owners may contact RTDI customer service at 1-417-266-7600.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
What this recall means for you
Some amphibious passenger vehicles from model years 1999 through 2002 may have headlights mounted 56 inches above the ground. Federal rules require headlights to sit between 22 and 54 inches above the ground. Headlights mounted too high can blind oncoming drivers and reduce your own visibility, which increases the risk of a crash.
The manufacturer, Ride The Ducks International LLC, will notify affected owners. Dealers will relocate the headlights to the correct height at no charge. The recall began April 20, 2017. Owners can contact Ride The Ducks International customer service at 1-417-266-7600, and you can check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
