Maserati Levante Recall 17V161: Engine may shut off or shift to neutral at low speed

NHTSA campaign 17V161, reported March 13, 2017, 3,291 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 Maserati Levante vehicles have an engine software problem. At slow speeds, such as in stop-and-go traffic, the transmission may unexpectedly shift into neutral or the engine may shut off.

If the transmission shifts into neutral unexpectedly or the engine shuts down without warning, the risk of a crash increases. Be especially cautious in traffic and watch for any unexpected change in how the vehicle behaves at low speed.

Maserati will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will update the engine control module software at no cost to you. You can also contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737, and check your VIN for open recalls.
