What this recall means for you
Certain 2017 Audi A5 and S5 Cabriolets have a seat belt retractor pretensioner, the front, rear, and rear center units, where a component may detach after the pretensioner fires during a crash. The seat belt will still work as intended in a crash, but the loose part can become a projectile inside the cabin, which raises the risk of injury to occupants.
If you own a 2017 Audi A5 Cabriolet or S5 Cabriolet, contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi will notify affected owners, and the replacement of the safety belt retractors and pretensioners is free at an authorized dealer. Volkswagen's recall number is 69O8.
