Zero S Recall 17V145: ABS May Not Work Properly in a Braking Emergency

NHTSA campaign 17V145, reported March 7, 2017, 61 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) on these motorcycles may have incorrect vehicle model information stored in its hydraulic control unit (HCU). Because of this, the ABS may not function properly during braking.

If the ABS does not work correctly in a braking event, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should take this recall seriously and avoid assuming the brakes will perform as expected in an emergency stop.

Zero Motorcycles will notify owners, and authorized dealers will reconfigure the HCU or replace it as needed, free of charge. Owners can contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085 and reference recall number SV-ZMC-017-363. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
