Hyundai Santa FE Recall 17V142: Tire Pressure Warning May Not Alert You to Low Tire Pressure

NHTSA campaign 17V142, reported March 6, 2017, 190 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2017 Santa Fe Sport vehicles may have a tire pressure monitoring system that was not set to the correct mode during assembly. As a result, the system may not give a proper warning when a tire is underinflated, and the vehicle does not meet federal tire pressure monitoring safety requirements.

An underinflated tire can increase the risk of a crash. Because the warning may not appear, you could drive on a low tire without knowing it. Check your tire pressures regularly until the repair is done.

Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the TPMS sensors free of charge. You can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151 (Hyundai recall number 159), and you should check your VIN for any open recalls.
