Tiffin Allegro Open Road Recall 17V113: Incorrect hitch weight sticker can cause towed vehicle to separate

NHTSA campaign 17V113, reported February 23, 2017, 284 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A sticker on the tow hitch of certain motorhomes may list a towing capacity of 10,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 1,000 lbs. The correct figures are 5,000 lbs towing capacity and a 500 lbs maximum tongue weight. If the hitch is loaded to the weight shown on the incorrect sticker, the hitch may fail and the towed vehicle can separate from the motorhome, increasing the risk of a crash.

The manufacturer will notify owners and will supply a corrected weight capacity sticker free of charge. Do not load the hitch beyond the correct limits of 5,000 lbs towing and 500 lbs tongue weight until you have the corrected sticker. Owners can contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661 and reference recall number TIF-105.
