Altec Digger Derrick Recall 17V107: Boom May Move Unexpectedly, Risking Injury Nearby

NHTSA campaign 17V107, reported February 17, 2017, 35 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The fasteners that secure the outer rotation bearings on this digger derrick may fail. Those fasteners attach the rotation platform to the truck, so if they fail, the digger boom can move without warning.

An unintended boom movement raises the risk of injury to the operator and to anyone working near the vehicle. Owners should treat this as a safety issue and arrange the repair promptly.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the fasteners and replace them as necessary at no charge. You can also contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832, referencing recall MAB 650, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
