- Problem
- Gillig, LLC (Gillig) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Low Floor transit buses. These vehicles have front LED turn signals with integrated side reflex reflectors that may not be sufficiently visible to other drivers or pedestrians. - Risk
- A bus that has reduced visibility to other drivers or pedestrians has an increased risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Gillig will notify owners and will replace the LED turn signal/reflector units, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 31, 2017. Owners may contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500.

- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2016 and 2017 low-floor transit buses have front LED turn signals with built-in side reflectors that may not be bright or visible enough to other drivers and pedestrians. The buses therefore do not fully meet federal lighting safety requirements (FMVSS No. 108).
Reduced visibility means other road users may not notice the bus or its turn signals in time, which increases the risk of a crash.
The repair is free. Gillig will notify owners and replace the LED turn signal and reflector units at no charge, with the recall expected to begin March 31, 2017. Owners can contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
