BMW X1 SAV Recall 17V087: Battery Cable Can Cut Power, Stalling Engine

NHTSA campaign 17V087, reported February 9, 2017, 1,160 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A high-resistance connection in the positive battery (B+) cable, where it meets the fuse box, can cause the cable to lose its electrical connection. This may cut power, stall the engine, and leave the vehicle unable to restart, which increases the risk of a crash.

BMW will notify affected owners. Dealers will replace the B+ cable connector with a silver-coated version and secure it better to the fuse box, free of charge. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN for open recalls, or contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
