Airstream Flying Cloud Recall 17V044: Wrong tire label could lead to overinflation and blowout

NHTSA campaign 17V044, reported January 20, 2017, 82 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 recreational trailers have a Federal Certification label and tire placards that list the wrong tire information. The labels were printed for ST225/75R15 Load Range E tires, but these trailers are equipped with ST225/75R15 Load Range D tires, so the vehicles do not comply with federal tire selection and certification requirements.

Because the incorrect label may lead an owner to inflate the tires to the wrong pressure, the tires could be overinflated. This could result in a tire blowout, which increases the risk of a crash.

Owners will be notified by Airstream, and authorized dealers will replace the incorrect label with a corrected one at no charge. You can contact Airstream customer service at 1-937-596-6111, extension 7401 or 7411. You should also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
