Keystone Alpine Recall 16V954: Wrong spare tire pressure label may cause overinflation

NHTSA campaign 16V954, reported December 28, 2016, 1,651 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2017 Keystone Alpine and Avalanche fifth-wheel trailers may have an incorrect spare tire load range on the Federal Certification (placard) label. The trailer does not meet the federal certification labeling requirements.

If the spare tire is inflated using the figures on the label, the tire may be overinflated. An overinflated tire is more likely to fail, which can create a dangerous situation while towing or when the spare is in use.

Owners should contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369 (Keystone recall number 17-275). Dealers will replace the Federal Placard free of charge. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
