Volvo VHD Recall 16V927: Front Wheel Hubs May Fail and Separate From Axle

NHTSA campaign 16V927, reported December 22, 2016, 16 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2017 Volvo VHD, VNL and VNM trucks built between February 19, 2016 and June 21, 2016 have front wheel hubs that cannot support the front axle's gross axle weight rating. Overloaded hubs can fail prematurely, along with their bearings and related parts, and the front hub assembly can separate from the axle.

This is dangerous because the driver may lose control of the vehicle, and parts may be dropped onto the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

Volvo will notify owners. Dealers will replace the front hub assemblies free of charge. The recall began February 16, 2017. Owners can contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-528-6586 (recall number RVXX1607), and can check their VIN for open recalls.
