C&M Cargo Trailer Recall 16V924: Missing plate light can make trailer hard to see

NHTSA campaign 16V924, reported December 22, 2016, 35 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 cargo trailers built between July 1 and December 1, 2016 may be missing the required license plate illumination. Without it, the trailer's rear is less visible to other drivers at night, and this lack of lighting does not meet federal lighting requirements under FMVSS 108. Reduced visibility raises the risk of a crash.

C&M Trailers Inc. is notifying owners and will have dealers correct the lighting and install a new license plate cover at no cost to you. The recall began on February 21, 2017.

If you own a 2016 5x10 cargo trailer from this production window, contact C&M customer service at 1-972-875-4528 and check whether your trailer is included in the recall. Check your VIN for open recalls as well, and schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer.
