DRV Full House Recall 16V896: Rear door hinge welds may fail, causing door to drop suddenly

NHTSA campaign 16V896, reported December 14, 2016, 26 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2017 Full House recreational trailers built between August 29, 2016 and November 30, 2016, the welds on the rear cargo door hinge pin and hinge plate may be insufficient. Because of this, the top of the door can swing down with more force than normal when opened.

If the door does not open as expected, people standing in its path face an increased risk of injury. Owners should be especially careful around the rear cargo door of an affected trailer and keep people clear of the door's swing path when opening it.

The repair is free. DRV will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will inspect the weld thickness and replace the hinge if necessary, at no charge. To check whether your trailer is included, look up your VIN for open recalls and contact DRV customer service at 1-260-562-3500, referencing recall number 99.02.07.
