Cummins Power Generation Generator SET Recall 16V861: Generator Doors May Detach While Trailer Is Moving

NHTSA campaign 16V861, reported November 30, 2016, 164 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2016 Cummins Power Generation generator sets mounted on trailers may have door hinges that fail. If this happens, the generator set door can come loose while the trailer is being towed, creating a road hazard for other drivers.

A detached door can become debris on the road, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners of affected units will be notified by Cummins. The replacement of the door hinges is free of charge and will be performed by dealers. You can contact Cummins customer service at 1-800-343-7357 for more information, and check your equipment's identification number for any open recalls.
