E-One Cyclone Recall 16V845: Suspension Air Bags Can Fail, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V845, reported November 22, 2016, 16 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain E-One Cyclone fire apparatus with FIREMAAX suspension and aerial jack legs may have suspension air bags that lose pressure while the vehicle is parked with its jack legs extended. When the jack legs are retracted, the air bags can become wrinkled and damaged, which may lead to sudden failure of the pressurized suspension air bags.

Sudden air bag failure can reduce the vehicle's stability and handling, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and arrange the repair promptly.

The remedy is free. E-One will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install a pressure protection valve on the exhaust port of the height control valve at no charge. Owners can contact E-One customer service at 1-352-861-3612, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
