Isuzu NPR HD Recall 16V797: Accelerator pedal can stick wide open, risking crashes

NHTSA campaign 16V797, reported November 2, 2016, 25,018 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain gasoline-powered trucks, the accelerator (throttle) pedal may get stuck under a steel stopper bolt and stay in the full-throttle position. This affects some 2014-2016 Isuzu NPR and NPR HD trucks built between August 2013 and November 2016, and some 2016 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 3500 and 4500 trucks built between July and November 2016.

A stuck-open accelerator can cause very high vehicle speeds and make the vehicle difficult to stop, which could lead to a crash, serious injury, or death.

The remedy is free. An authorized dealer will remove the stopper bolt and replace it with a flanged plate that prevents the throttle from moving sideways. Owners can contact Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
