Jaguar XF Recall 16V796: Fuel lines can chafe and leak, creating fire risk

NHTSA campaign 16V796, reported November 1, 2016, 5,081 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2013-2015 Jaguar XF vehicles built between May 22, 2013 and June 15, 2015 with 2.0L GTDi engines may have insufficient clearance between the underfloor fuel delivery lines and the under shield and body. Over time, the lines can rub against these parts and wear through, which may cause a fuel leak.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. Owners should take this recall seriously.

Jaguar will notify owners. Dealers will inspect the fuel line for abrasions, replace it if necessary, and install additional clips, all free of charge. Parts are not yet available, so a second notice will be sent when they are. The recall is expected to begin in January 2017. Owners can contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827 (Jaguar recall number J077), and can check their VIN for open recalls.
