Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Recall 16V792: Windshield Wiper Motor May Fail, Reducing Visibility

NHTSA campaign 16V792, reported October 31, 2016, 93,801 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Water can drop between the hood and the windshield and leak into the windshield wiper motor's breathing hole. Over time this can corrode the motor internally and cause it to fail.

If the wiper motor fails, you can lose visibility through the windshield, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk, especially in wet or poor weather conditions.

The manufacturer will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the wiper motor free of charge. Parts are not yet available, so a second notice will be sent when they are. You can contact Mitsubishi Motors North America customer service at 1-888-648-7820 (recall SR-16-010), and check your VIN for open recalls.
