Jayco Travel Trailer JAY Series Sport Recall 16V785: Incorrect tire pressure label can lead to tire failure

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 Jay Sport camping trailers, model 12SC, built between September 14 and October 3, 2016, have a label that lists the wrong tire information. The label says the trailer uses ST175/80R13D tires requiring 65 PSI, but the trailer actually has ST175/80R13C tires that require 50 PSI. The label also does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 on tire selection and rims.

Because the label gives the wrong pressure, an owner may inflate the tires above what they are designed to handle. Over-inflated tires can fail, which raises the risk of a crash.

Jayco has notified owners and will provide a corrected label at no cost. Owners can contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267 and reference recall number 9901331. Check your trailer's VIN for any open recalls, and until you receive the corrected label, follow the 50 PSI pressure for your actual tires.

Problem
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2017 Jay Sport camping trailers, model 12SC, manufactured September 14, 2016, to October 3, 2016. The labels on the affected vehicles incorrectly state that the vehicle is equipped with ST175/80R13D tires requiring 65 PSI, when the vehicle is actually equipped with ST175/80R13C tires requiring 50 PSI. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Risk
Incorrect tire pressure information may result in the tires being over inflated, which can cause possible tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Jayco has notified owners and provided them with a corrected label, free of charge. The recall began on November 1, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901331.
