East Beast II Recall 16V771: Rear tarp device may detach from trailer, creating road hazard

NHTSA campaign 16V771, reported October 24, 2016, 20 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2016 flatbed trailers built between May 22 and June 19, 2015, the rear aerodynamic device (RAD) on the Conestoga XP sliding tarping system can separate from the rear of the tarp because its rivets fail. If the device comes off while you are driving, it can land on the road and become a hazard to other drivers, which increases the risk of a crash.

The manufacturer will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will replace the rivets with a bolted connection at no cost to you. Owners can also contact East customer service at 1-330-325-9921 and reference recall number 16E-066.

Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is affected, and schedule the free repair with an authorized dealer.
