Kia Sorento Recall 16V770: Driver seatback may break in a rear-end crash

NHTSA campaign 16V770, reported October 24, 2016, 1,408 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016 Sorento vehicles built between March 3 and March 21, 2016 may have a driver's seatback frame with inadequate weld joints. In a rear-end collision, the seatback may not perform as designed and could break.

If the seatback frame fails in a crash, it may not hold the driver in place, which increases the risk of injury. Owners should take this recall seriously and arrange a repair as soon as possible.

Kia will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will inspect the seatback welds and replace the driver seatback frame if needed, at no cost to you. You can also contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 (Kia recall number SC140), and check your VIN for open recalls.
