IC Bus Cesb Recall 16V765: Wheelchair Lift Platform Can Fall Out When Doors Open

NHTSA campaign 16V765, reported October 21, 2016, 685 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain school buses have wheelchair lifts whose folding link arms may have pivot holes that are too large. This can let the bearings move out of position, allowing the stowed lift platform to move excessively and possibly fail at its mounting.

If the platform mounting fails, the lift platform could fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator.

Dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or displaced bearings and check the platform for cracks. Any damaged parts will be replaced free of charge. Owners will be notified by Navistar, or you can contact Navistar customer service at 1-331-332-1590 or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884. Check your VIN for open recalls.
