Newmar King Aire Recall 16V756: Collision radar may be mounted upside down, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 16V756, reported October 19, 2016, 15 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 King Aire motorhomes built between January 22, 2016 and October 4, 2016 may have their WABCO OnGuard collision mitigation radar mounted upside down on the front lower bumper. This can reduce the radar's performance.

A radar with reduced performance may not detect or respond to a potential forward collision as intended, which could increase the risk of a crash. The recall began on December 14, 2016.

The repair is free. Newmar will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will check the radar's orientation and correct it if needed. You can contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
