Ducati Xdiavel Recall 16V729: Loose side stand screw can make bike fall or engine stall

NHTSA campaign 16V729, reported October 12, 2016, 1,433 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The lower fastening screw on the side stand plate may not be tightened enough. Over time it can loosen, which can cause the side stand to fail and the motorcycle to fall over. In addition, the loose screw can damage the side stand sensor switch during normal riding, which can cause the engine to stall.

A falling motorcycle or a sudden engine stall while riding increases the risk of injury or a crash. Owners should take this seriously and get the repair done as soon as possible.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer, where the side stand pivot and side stand plate fastening screw will be replaced. Ducati will also notify owners directly, and you can contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696 with questions. You can also check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your motorcycle is affected.
