Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 16V712: Bus May Shift Out of Park Without Brake Pressed

NHTSA campaign 16V712, reported October 5, 2016, 162 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2017 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 school bus chassis built between November 25, 2015 and April 27, 2016, the brake-to-shift interlock may not work. This means the driver could shift into a drive gear without first pressing the brake pedal.

If this happens, the bus can move unintentionally or roll away, which raises the risk of injury or a crash.

The repair is free. Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will update the vehicle's software at no charge. Owners can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall FL-726. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
