Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 16V657: Fuel Leak After Fill Can Raise Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V657, reported September 13, 2016, 114 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 school buses with compressed natural gas engines may have an internal seal on a fuel filling valve that can dislodge during a fast fill. If this happens, fuel can leak after the tank has been filled.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of a fire. Owners should contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall FL-720 to confirm their vehicle's status. You can also check your VIN for open recalls at an authorized dealer.

According to the notice, all affected vehicles have already been remedied, so owner notification letters will not be issued for this campaign. If you have questions about your bus, the repair is free at an authorized dealer.
