What this recall means for you
Certain 2013 trucks built between April and June 2012 may have a certification label that lists the wrong gross axle weight rating (GAWR) and gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). These labels show how much weight the vehicle and its axles are designed to carry, so an incorrect label means the truck could be loaded beyond its safe limits without the driver realizing it.
Overloading a truck increases the risk of a crash, because it can affect braking, steering, tire performance and overall stability. The vehicles also do not comply with federal certification requirements under 49 CFR Part 567.
Peterbilt will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the certification labels free of charge. Owners can contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000. Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is affected.
