Audi A8 Recall 16V619: Coolant leak can stall engine and raise crash risk

NHTSA campaign 16V619, reported August 24, 2016, 9,067 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2010-2013 Audi A8 vehicles built between May 15, 2010, and May 14, 2012, may have a coolant valve that leaks. Coolant can then enter the engine control module, causing a loss of power or the engine to stall.

A sudden stall increases the risk of a crash. Owners should treat this as a safety issue and not ignore warning signs.

Audi will notify affected owners. Authorized dealers will replace the coolant valve and inspect for coolant that has leaked through the electrical connector, at no cost to you. The recall is expected to begin October 19, 2016. To check whether your vehicle is included, contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 or check your VIN for open recalls.
