Zero FX Recall 16V610: Brakes and lights can cut out during hard braking

NHTSA campaign 16V610, reported August 22, 2016, 96 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The DC-DC converter in certain 2015 Zero motorcycles may not supply enough power. When power demand is high, such as during an anti-lock braking event, the anti-lock brake system and all vehicle lights can temporarily stop working.

Loss of ABS and lighting while braking increases the risk of a crash, because the brakes may not perform as expected and other drivers may not see your motorcycle.

Dealers will inspect the DC-DC converter free of charge and replace it if it is of the affected type. To find out whether your motorcycle is covered, contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085 and reference recall number SV-ZMC-016-356. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
