Braun MXV Recall 16V555: Crushed Seat Wiring Could Block Passenger Airbag

NHTSA campaign 16V555, reported July 26, 2016, 139 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016 Braun MXV vehicles built on a Ford Explorer chassis, made between February 8 and June 23, 2016, may have the passenger seat electrical harness routed incorrectly. The harness can be crushed between the seat structure and the seat riser added during the wheelchair-accessible conversion.

If the harness is crushed, the passenger airbag may not deploy correctly in a crash, which raises the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Owners should not wait to have this checked.

The repair is free. Braun will notify owners, and authorized dealers will inspect the seat wiring harness routing, replacing and correctly routing any harness that is improperly routed or damaged. The recall began August 26, 2016. Contact Braun customer service at 1-800-488-0359, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
