Coachmen Freedom Express Recall 16V550: Tires May Rub Driveshaft, Risking Tire Failure and Crash

NHTSA campaign 16V550, reported July 22, 2016, 132 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2017 Coachmen Freedom Express motorhomes may not have enough clearance between the slideroom driveshaft and the driver's side tires. As a result, the driveshaft can rub against the tires.

If the driveshaft rubs the tires, the tires may fail, which could cause a loss of vehicle control and raise the risk of a crash. Owners should take this seriously and arrange the repair promptly.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8205 and reference recall number 220-07192016-0229. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
