Forest River Rockwood Recall 16V549: Wrong tire pressure on trailer label can cause tire failure

NHTSA campaign 16V549, reported July 22, 2016, 4 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017 Forest River Flagstaff and Rockwood trailers built between July 8 and July 11, 2016 have a federal placard that lists the wrong recommended pressure for their ST225/75R15D tires. The placard says 50 PSI, but these tires should be maintained at 65 PSI. Because of this error, the trailers do not fully meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 on tire selection and rims.

If the tires are run at a lower pressure than they need, they can overheat and fail, which may cause a loss of vehicle control and raise the risk of a crash.

Forest River will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard at no cost to you. You can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-2640 and reference recall number 10-07192016-0230. Check your trailer's VIN for any open recalls, and make sure your tires are inflated to the correct pressure.
