Forest River Surveyor Recall 16V547: Incorrect load label could lead to overloading and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 16V547, reported July 22, 2016, 72 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2017 Surveyor recreational trailers, built between October 9, 2015 and June 9, 2016, have a Federal Placard that incorrectly classifies the vehicle as a school bus. Because the label misstates the vehicle's classification, it can lead to the trailer being overloaded, which increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free. Dealers will replace the incorrect Federal Placard with a corrected one at no charge. Owners will be notified by Forest River.

If you own an affected trailer, contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440 and reference recall number 37-07142016-0224. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
