Manac Flatbed Recall 16V523: Trailer May Roll Away After Being Unhooked

NHTSA campaign 16V523, reported July 11, 2016, 4 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Manac flatbed and van trailers may have a parking brake valve (Bendix SR5) that was improperly machined. This can delay the spring brakes from engaging when the trailer is parked, so the trailer can roll after it has been decoupled from the tractor.

A rolling trailer raises the risk of a crash or injury. If you own an affected trailer, MANAC, Inc. will contact you and provide a remedy kit with instructions to repair the SR5 trailer relay valve at no cost. You can contact MANAC at 1-418-228-2018. You should also check your trailer's VIN for open recalls.
