Brenner Liquid Tank Recall 16V489: Trailer May Roll Away After Parking Brake Delay

NHTSA campaign 16V489, reported June 30, 2016, 179 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The parking brakes on these trailers may not apply right away when the trailer is parked. The spring brake valves may have been improperly machined, which can delay the spring brakes from engaging after the trailer is uncoupled from the tractor.

If the spring brakes are delayed, the trailer can roll away after it has been disconnected, which raises the risk of a crash or injury to people nearby. Owners should contact Brenner Tank's Customer Service Department at 1-800-558-8265 for information about this recall. The remedy is still being developed, and an interim notice was sent to owners on August 22, 2016. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
