Vermeer TR620 Recall 16V488: Parked trailer may roll away after uncoupling

NHTSA campaign 16V488, reported June 30, 2016, 45 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2016 Vermeer TR620 and TR626 trailers may have spring brake valves that were improperly machined. This can delay the spring brakes from engaging when the trailer is parked.

If the spring brakes are delayed, the trailer may roll away after it has been decoupled from the tractor, which raises the risk of a crash or injury.

Owners should contact Vermeer's Customer Service Department at 1-641-628-3141 (recall number VFK3104) to check eligibility. Bendix and Vermeer Freeman will send parts and instructions to repair the spring brake valve, and dealers will be reimbursed for parts and labor, so the repair is free at an authorized dealer. Vermeer sent an interim notice to owners on August 19, 2016 because the remedy was not yet available at that time. You can also check your trailer's VIN for open recalls.
