Thor Motor Coach Tuscany Recall 16V469: Engine Brake May Suddenly Fail, Reducing Stopping Power

NHTSA campaign 16V469, reported June 27, 2016, 487 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The accelerator pedal's throttle position sensor on certain motorhomes may not return fully to zero. When this happens, the engine brake can suddenly stop activating as expected, so the vehicle loses some of its ability to slow down. The problem comes without any warning to the driver.

A sudden loss of engine braking on a large motorhome can reduce braking capacity and increase the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware that the vehicle may not slow as expected when the engine brake is relied upon.

The repair is free. Thor Motor Coach will notify owners, and Daimler Trucks North America dealers will replace the throttle pedal at no cost. Contact Thor Motor Coach customer service at 1-877-500-1020, or the Daimler Warranty Campaign Department at 1-800-547-0712 or [email protected], referencing recall RC000119. You can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
