Coach And Equipment Pegasus Recall 16V375: Wheelchair Lift Platform May Crack and Fall on Operator

NHTSA campaign 16V375, reported May 27, 2016, 255 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain buses with Ricon wheelchair lifts may have a platform side plate that cracks, or folding link arms with pivot holes that are too large, allowing bearings to move out of position. Either problem can cause the lift platform to separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door.

When the doors are opened, the platform may fall onto the lift operator, increasing the risk of injury. Owners should contact Coach and Equipment customer service at 1-800-724-8464 and check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.

The repair is free. Ricon dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or displaced bearings and inspect the platform for cracks, replacing any damaged parts at no charge.
