Kenworth W900 Recall 16V362: Headlights may cut out when switching to high beams

NHTSA campaign 16V362, reported May 26, 2016, 355 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 Kenworth W900 trucks built between May 19, 2015 and December 21, 2015 may temporarily lose their headlights when the driver switches from low beam to high beam. The vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lighting equipment.

A sudden loss of headlights while switching to high beams reduces the driver's ability to see the road ahead, which increases the risk of a crash.

Kenworth will notify owners. Dealers will alter the wiring harness so the high beams illuminate properly, and the repair is free of charge. Owners can contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5000, referencing recall number 16KWA. You can also check your truck's VIN for open recalls.
