Manac Darkwing Aluminum Recall 16V357: Cracks May Let Trailer Coupling Plate Separate, Risking Crash

NHTSA campaign 16V357, reported May 25, 2016, 18 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Cracks may form in the structural web connected to the coupling plate, below the cross-member, on certain flatbed trailers. Over time, these cracks could cause the coupling plate to separate from the trailer, allowing the trailer to disconnect from the towing vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected trailer, contact Manac Trailers USA customer service at 1-800-361-7900. Authorized dealers will install a new coupling plate and repair all cracked frame webs at no cost to you. Check your trailer's VIN for any open recalls to confirm whether it is covered.
