Lincoln MKX Recall 16V343: Child Seat Tether Anchors May Be Blocked, Raising Crash Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V343, reported May 24, 2016, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain vehicles, an incorrect seat back trim cover was installed on the second-row center seat, which blocks the child seat tether anchors at that position. Because the anchors are covered, a child seat may not be properly secured, and it does not meet the federal child restraint anchorage standard.

An improperly anchored child seat can increase the risk of injury to a child in a crash. Owners who use a child seat in the second-row center position should take this seriously.

The repair is free. Authorized dealers will replace the seat back trim cover and the tether cover bezel on the second row. Owners can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 16C09. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
