Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX Recall 16V324: Coolant Hose Elbow May Leak Hot Coolant Into Bus

NHTSA campaign 16V324, reported May 19, 2016, 131 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A rubber elbow connecting a coolant line to the interior bus heater may restrict coolant flow and could fail due to increased stress. This affects certain 2014-2017 Saf-T-Liner HDX buses built between November 29, 2012, and February 4, 2016.

If the rubber elbow fails, hot coolant may leak inside the bus body, which increases the risk of injury to passengers. Owners should check whether their bus is covered and contact Daimler Trucks North America at 1-800-547-0712 (recall number FL-708).

The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will replace the rubber elbow with a nylon fitting at no cost to the owner. Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm your vehicle's status.
