- Risk
- Incorrect weight ratings on the tire label could cause the operator to overload the vehicle and lead to premature tire wear, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- All affected units are in dealer inventory. Dealers will be provided new, corrected labels. The recall began May 27, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901299.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2017 Jay Flight travel trailers built between May 6 and May 9, 2016, have incorrect weight ratings printed on their tire labels. The labels do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110 for tire selection and rims.
Because the stated weight ratings are wrong, the trailer could be loaded beyond what its tires can safely carry. Overloading can cause premature tire wear and increases the risk of a crash.
All affected units were still in dealer inventory when the recall began on May 27, 2016, and dealers were to receive new, corrected labels. If you own one of these trailers, contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267, referencing recall number 9901299, and check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
