Supreme Ponyxpress Recall 16V299: Entry Steps May Detach and Become Unstable

NHTSA campaign 16V299, reported May 13, 2016, 153 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2007-2009 Supreme Ponyxpress and Silver Crown vehicles have electrically powered entry steps that can malfunction. The bolt attaching the fan gear assembly to the steps may fracture, allowing the fan gear to disengage. When that happens, the steps may not stay in the expected position and can become unstable.

Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury to occupants getting in or out of the vehicle. Owners should take this seriously and avoid relying on steps that move unexpectedly or feel loose.

The remedy is free. Supreme will notify owners, who should have a Lippert Components dealer install a retainer bracket at no charge. Owners can contact Lippert Components customer service at 1-574-537-8900 or Supreme customer service at 1-574-642-0800, and can check their VIN for open recalls.
